Oak Creek / Stagecoach

Twenty miles south of Steamboat Springs is the Stagecoach area.  Stagecoach Lake State Park is the heart of this neighborhood. The park offers year-round recreation.  There are hiking, biking and horse trails, a marina with boat rentals, kayaking and stand-up paddle-boards, fishing and swimming.  In the winter, ice fishing, snow-shoeing, cross country skiing and fat-tire biking are enjoyed.

To the west are thousands of acres of National Park Service land to hike, camp, or just to get away from-it-all.  In the early 70’s the area was developed and a ski area was opened.  Unfortunately the ski area was closed after 1 year.

There are multiple subdivisions in the area.  Condos, townhomes, single-family homes, small and large ranches are available.  There are many “off-grid” options.  Some properties have municipal water and sewer, electricity and phone lines.  Some have no utilities. Prices range all over the place.

The name comes from an old stagecoach road which connected with Steamboat Springs over Yellow Jacket Pass.  This is a popular commuter area to Steamboat with drive times from 30 minutes to 1 hour.  Oak Creek is the closest town, and has a variety of restaurants, shops and amenities.
